What is BESA?
Griffin Education is a member of BESA.
BESA is a trade association that
draws its membership from the educational supply industry.
Members include manufacturers and suppliers of educational
and training equipment, material, consumables, teaching
aids, furniture, technology hardware and software and
services for all ranges, areas of the curriculum and
administration.
Trade Associations are organisations
which represent a particular industry, but do not supply
products themselves. They promote and provide information
about the companies who are their members and are a
good source of information and advice about their respective
industries. BESA is the only trade association in the
UK that serves the education supply industry. Funded
by the industry, its aim is to promote, inform and enhance
the business of its members.
What
does it do?
BESA produces an annual directory of our members known
as the BESAbook to guide you to the right educational
suppliers for your needs. We also produce news of newly
developed products and services and reports on developments
in education. BESA staff are also on hand to answer
general enquiries and offer help and guidance. You can
e-mail
or telephone on 020 7537 4997.
The opportunity to see, test, and
compare products and to meet manufacturers and service
providers face to face is still one of the most cost
effective ways to establish sound and effective purchasing
practices in schools. The
show is organised by BESA and EMAP. BESA also organise
the which takes place at the BETT show.
Each year BESA carries out the UK
Schools Survey on Budget and Resource Provision and
the ICT in UK State Schools Survey. These are distributed to BESA members and interested
Government departments. As well as the two annual surveys
BESA produces single issue reports on subjects such
as software licensing.
